Welcome to Colorado!

Life sure gets busy fast! This last month, we've put our Texas house up for sale, gone house-hunting in Colorado, sold both of our cars, packed up and moved, and bought a used car. We've been living in 150 square foot hotel rooms for almost 3 weeks. Mike started his new position at BP on Monday and hit the ground running.

With all the crazy happening in our lives, I've been reminded of what is really important: FAMILY! I am so thankful for the two, sweet littles that the Lord has entrusted to my care. They are so full of life (sometimes to my dismay) and I am determined to slow down and enjoy them while they are still in love with me. Because of the limited time I have to influence them, I've decided to stop using social networking sites. I've deleted a few accounts that I held, and plan on pulling way, way back on the others that I will keep. I love that I can keep in touch with friends all over the country; I don't love that the obsession and addiction of "catching up" has caused me to neglect my immediate family relationships.

Lily tells me almost daily, "Mama, you are my best friend in the whole world" ... except for the other day when I wouldn't give her a second helping of vitamins and she said, "Mama, I don't love you, ever". HA! She has totally potty-trained herself, with no night-time or nap-time accidents, and only two "too-distracted-to-potty" accidents in two months. I am so proud of her for learning and growing so much. She's fantastic at telling stories. She told me a story about how the monster would say "NO" and "Don't do that!" and the last thing her monster said was "Share with James!" and I realized that *I* am the monster in her stories LOL! A day doesn't go by that she doesn't make me laugh myself silly.

James is finally walking! He is 16 months old, as big as Lily, and nearly as vocal (though not at all understandable). He'll say "Mama" and "uh-oh" and "ni-ni" for goodnight. He has been such a trooper with all the changes going on around here. The sweetest gesture of his love and need for me happens at nap/bed time: As I hum and rock James to sleep, he snakes his little fingers through my hair and holds on tight until he drifts off. Any time he needs a hug, he reaches his chubby arms around my neck and grabs the hair at the back of my head. He's pretty enthusiastic about kissing and hugging and giggling with Mama, and I LOVE IT!

I'm hoping to update our blog more often, and I have it linked to my Facebook account so friends will know what's going on in our lives. If you have a blog that I can follow (so I don't have to sift through the junk on Facebook to find out what's happening in YOUR life) please leave me the link in a comment (or shoot me an email at jessica dot barrus dot morgan at gmail dot com).
