What's for Dinner 11/26

Grace is 3 months old now and on a pretty good schedule, so it's about time I get back to planning our meals in advance. Here's what's on our menu for this upcoming week:

Mon: Broccoli Salad and Tilapia in Mushroom Sauce
Tues: Steak & Eggs
Wed: Masman Curry
Thur: Salmon with a Dill Mustard Sauce (no recipe, just mixing together mustard, dill, and maybe a little sour cream with salt and pepper and slapping it on a salmon fillet - then into the oven)
Fri: DATE NIGHT! *Woot* The kids will get their favorite - noodles with butter and "sprinkles" (parmesan)
Sat: Fankuuchens for lunch; Taco Soup for dinner
Sun: Grilled Tuna Melts for lunch (you know, tuna fish sammies with cheese, grilled); Crustless Quiche Lorraine for dinner
Mon: Stuffed Spaghetti Squash (this is a new recipe that I'm excited to try!)

Then Mike is gone for a week, so you know what the kids and I will be eating... CORNDOGS!

Lily's 4th Birthday

Lily chose to have a Pirate themed party this year. I got pirate hats and swords for the kids (yay for Halloween!), we "Walked the Plank", played "Pin the Patch on the Pirate", and did a treasure hunt for their party favors (chocolate gold coins, pirate temporary tattoos, mustache suckers, and a skeleton necklace). Lily helped make her cake and Mike was home to help out, which was SO nice.

Notice the egg all over the counter :)

I made this filling out of my mom's home-canned raspberry jam and home-canned raspberry syrup.

Decorating hats with glitter glue...

Scary pirates; AAARRR!!!

Three Kids Really *Are* Easier Than Two!

I was reminded by a friend that I've been a horrible blogger lately. Thanks, Bri ;) Let's see if I can quickly catch you up on everything that's happened in our house!
We had a baby. And not just a baby, but a GIRL! Our adorable Grace Anne was born August 12th at 6:19 pm, after 6 hours of labor, with no pain medication (but that's a story for another post!). She was 5 lbs 10 oz and 18 inches long. She looks so much like James.

At first, James had a really, REALLY hard time. He was not ready to give up his mama. For the first two weeks, any time I nursed Grace, he would say "Stop it Mama!" and throw a fit. Luckily, that ended, and now he loves his baby Grace.
Lily LOVES LOVES LOVES her sister so much, I have to keep an eye on her. I have walked in on her picking Grace up (upside down), licking her face (like a puppy), dressing her up, and telling her all about the fun things she's going to learn. I'm hopeful that Lily and Grace will be great friends.
My mom graciously came and stayed with us for 2 weeks (one of which Mike was gone for work) and my family visited.
Mike's parents and his brother's wife (recently returned from the Peace Corps in Cambodia!) visited.

We did lots of playing and relaxing through September and October, including another visit from Gramma and Grampa Barrus, and had lots of fun Trick-or-Treating! Mike and I even got to have fun dressing up for a "Grown-Ups Only" Halloween party.

And already in November we've had a blast, playing in leaves, watching the deer in our backyard, and getting ready for Lily's birthday and Thanksgiving.
