Blizzard in April? Welcome to Butte.

Mike and Jessi woke up this morning to a winter wonderland. Last night a storm blew into Butte and covered the town in about 5 or 6 inches of snow. It's been a joy to drive in, considering Jessi took the snow tires off the car in March before their trip to Utah.
It was a slow drive for Jessi last night as well. She had gone to Rexburg, ID to help her sister, Lyn, move back up to college. It was fun for her to spend the day with Lyn and see the new Rexburg Temple. One thing Jessi did decide: No More Road Trips! Stopping in every city to use the "facilities" was not enjoyable (although the Phillips 66 in Dubois has a gorgeous restroom). Not only that, Jessi's been experiencing an overwhelming nausea for the last week. We're thinking our trip down to New Mexico in three weeks will take us a little longer than expected.
Other than that small discomfort, Jessi is feeling good and enjoying other benefits of pregnancy - Mike now allows her to sleep in and take as many naps during the day as she wants! Jessi's also been able to quit her job working in the mall, and has really loved being a stay-at-home-mom in training. We're thinking she'll work this summer part time to save up a little more money for the baby, but after that, Mike has promised to provide for our family so Jessi can focus on nurturing our family. We're both thrilled about that, and Jessi can already see how Mike is going to be a great father, and is an awesome husband.

Warning! May Contain Graphic Images Startling to Young Viewers

Tuesday was not such a good day for Mike and Jessi. Jessi parked somewhere unfamiliar at school, and when she backed out of her parking space at the end of the day, her car got caught on a piece of steel rebar and pulled the bumper off. We didn't get pictures of this, thankfully, because some great young men witnessed it happening and were able to "jimmy-rig" her bumper back on with wire so she could get home. We're now in the process of deciding if it needs professional help, or if Mike can take care of it himself with some bolts and nuts.
When Jessi got home after this harrowing ordeal, Mike announced he had stabbed himself with a knife! Not on purpose, mind you, but while cutting some hard cheese. We did get pictures of that, and as you can see, a little gory, but Mike says he's feeling fine now. I guess we need trials and troubles to keep us humble.

Expecting and Excited!

Mike and I found out on Friday, March 28th that we are pregnant with our first bundle of joy! We are so thrilled beyond belief. Our families have been so supportive and thoughtful. When the test first showed up positive, Mike started pacing the hall mumbling to himself. I think as it becomes more real to him, he will be able to relax a little. I've been preparing for this for the last 3 months, so I'm holding up a bit better. Mike's pointing at his baby in my tummy, but you can't really tell.

What caused this massive change of heart? (For those of you who know me well, or thought you did, I've been very clear about not wanting to have babies. Ever.)
Over Thanksgiving 2007 Mike's cousin was sealed to his wife and adopted son. We went to their home to share in the joy and I was able to spend a significant portion of our visit holding and cuddling their new baby. Little did I know ... babies up to 6 months old secret a hormone that changes a woman's brain and makes her "baby hungry". I didn't stand a chance. That Christmas I told Mike that I wanted to have a baby. We got pregnant on my birthday while staying at my parents home for Spring Break. I've counted back to when I think I ovulated and I think the baby will be born November 23rd. My doctor set my due date for December 8th.
